Foo-T-ball Hilarity

My youngest grandson just started playing T-ball.  I went to his "game" this morning and haven't been able to stop laughing all day.

The team started out with a practice session.  Kids were dancing around, looking up at the sky, everything but looking at the coach.  I guess this is typical -- especially for such young kids.

When the game started, the other team was at bat so all the kids in my gradson's team crowded around the coach in the infield.  Whenever a ball was hit in their direction everyone pounced on the ball in a pile.  When the ball finally surfaced, whoever was grasping it would wander around holding it aloft.  If the ball wasn't hit in their general direction, everyone took off after the ball.  You'd think it was a hot potato the way it kept getting dropped.

Then the real fun started.  One boy, when he was sent to bat, passed right by the T and started walking the bases backward.  Whoever hit the ball would, generally, just stand there.  Some had no idea in which direction to run.  One child hit the ball and proceeded directly to the dugout.  Another hit the ball and started running; he made it almost all the way home (without touching a single base) before someone caught him and directed him to first base.

I haven't had so much fun or laughed so hard in a very long time.  Can't wait for the next game!
